What materials are Wildling shoes made of, and where do they come from?

Our shoes are made from a blend of different materials, with a preference for renewable and natural raw materials such as cotton, hemp, linen, cork, and wool. You can find out which materials are used in a particular model directly on the respective product page under “Material.”
Some of the models are made exclusively from raw materials of non-animal origin; you can find more information here.

Our materials come from different regions. We source some of them directly from partners in Europe, such as the leather from Faunus and the virgin wool from Nordwolle. For organically certified cotton, we work with the Cotonea project, among others, which sources the fiber from its own cultivation projects in Uganda and Kyrgyzstan, among other places. Other materials come from partners outside Europe, such as the abacá fiber from Ecuador, which is processed in Japan into our Washi material for the Tanuki models.

Before a material is used in our Wildlings, we take a close look at its origin, supply chains, and any available certifications. Our product development team then examines the material closely and checks whether it meets our requirements. Only once we are completely satisfied does it become a Wildling shoe.
